Serena Williams win to Caroline Garcia to Advance at 2013 Wimbledon

Williams went on to win the final four points of the set in convincing fashion, ending Garcia’s run at Wimbledon with a 6-2 second-set loss. She topped her young opponent in nearly every category throughout the match, none more so than winners, where she doubled Garcia’s 15.

“She is inspiring and she’s so fit,” Williams told BBC Sport. “I’ve never played her before, but I watched her when I was super young.”

Williams dropped just three points on serve in the first set against 19-year-old Garcia, and was equally impressive on the return, with two thumping forehands earning her a break in game five.

Garcia dumped an inviting forehand into the net when facing a third set point, but the former junior world number one battled hard in the second.
